From Cables to Virtual Reality: The Evolution of Video Games

When we talk about video games in today’s technological world, it never ceases to amaze us how we’ve moved from such simple graphics, where everything (console and controllers) had to be connected for the game to work. At the time, this was the biggest innovation in technology and entertainment; there were no modern chairs, special tables, or changing rooms for the characters inside the consoles. There was just a regular chair, everything connected, and hours of enjoyment guaranteed.

As expected, with the great technological evolution, the world of video games has not been left behind. Today, we find a vast diversity of games, with different ways of interacting: some are wireless, others are played on PCs, and many more on modern, updated consoles. We cannot forget virtual reality, which has taken graphics to a level where you truly feel immersed in the game. It’s clear that technology has completely transformed video games, updating their formats, improving graphics, and offering an immense variety of genres. Some are more realistic than others, capturing the attention of all generations and innovating by leaps and bounds. Furthermore, many of these current games incorporate educational elements in their programming, favoring the development of younger players.

Furthermore, numerous studies confirm that video games promote collaboration and teamwork through multiplayer modes, where effective communication and coordination are key to achieving goals. They can also improve coordination, reflexes, and attention to detail; as with any powerful tool, the goal is to use it consciously and balanced to take full advantage of its benefits and developments. Video games not only immerse us in their worlds but also prepare us for our own, equipping us with valuable skills and a broader perspective.
