UX/UI: From ‘Pretty’ to Essential. The Invisible Revolution Defining the Future of Tech.

If we talk about design, focusing on a specific topic, we could mention that in the technology sector, design was always seen as the finishing touch or the most important aspect of a project, simply to make it “pretty.” Functionality—whether the code worked correctly—wasn’t given much importance; we cared more about the appearance and how beautiful the project looked than its functionality. But this has come to an end. Now, with the great changes we’ve been experiencing, better strategies are being created that prioritize both aspects equally, thanks to the field of UX/UI design.

UX (User Experience) and UI (User Interface) designers are the bridge between technology and humanity. Their role is to ensure that, as technology becomes more powerful and complex, interaction with it becomes simpler. Companies that have invested heavily in this discipline (like Apple, Spotify, or Figma) dominate the market because they understood something crucial: superior technology with a poor user experience will always lose to good technology with a good experience.

UX/UI designers are responsible for taking that first step in creating a project mockup, collecting data obtained through strategies and evaluation of a small group of people, which we will call the market. They reflect and obtain what these users are really looking for or what attracts them to the functioning of the project itself.

We can say that UX/UI is not just decoration; it’s the engine of growth, the retention strategy, and the universal language that makes software adopted and loved. The revolution is no longer about what you can build, but about how to get people to use it.
